Thanksgiving Weekend

Okay, okay, I know you’re dying to hear how our Thanksgiving Weekend (our first official opening) turned out.   Now, that it’s over and I can take a breath, I can tell you that it turned out great!  We were very nervous on Thursday and Friday morning because we had no idea, so we got there early and everything was ready for our first customer who showed up 15 minutes before we were open.   We were packed the better part of our open hours on Friday and Saturday and had a steady flow on Sunday.  We had over 500 people.  The comments were very favorable.  Our sales were alittle less than I expected but I had nothing to base that on.  Our gift shop sales were good, so that seems to be a hit.  Of course, the biggest hit was the wine fountain in front and the glass sink.  Why did we bother painting the walls :).  Here are pictures of the people, etc., for you to enjoy.

Pounding the Pavement

I have been busy trying to come up with funding to replace our equity loan until it can be reinstated.  I have managed to come up with enough money to get us over the hump.  We are targetting Thanksgiving for our opening.  We may not be completely ready but we will make due.  I have also been working on our scrapbook, so visitors can see the evolution.  RJ ordered a new camera for me to replace the one I missplaced.  I know it will turn up but I miss it terribly.  Our grapes here at the house are ripening rapidly.  We will be doing our 2007 bottling in mid-September.  If you have some free time, we’ll take the help.  I did another pouring last week and have been selling wine to friends.  Also, I have been putting together ad copy for the Thanksgiving opening.  Lots of little things going on.  Oh yeah, RJ sent me some “before” pictures of the tasting room building.  It is amazing how far it has come.
