Oregon Wine Event Advertisement

May 27, 2010 Leave a comment

I have a question for all you wine fans.  Does it make sense to advertise for regular events such as Memorial Day Weekend Open House via Facebook, blogs, newsletters, etc., when for the most part fans, friends and followers already know about it?  Or am I making a very bad assumption and should get busy and advertise via the social media?

New Signs at Plum Hill Vineyards

Look at our new entrance signs.  Just a note that we will no longer be putting the sandwich board out at the end of the driveway.  Do you have any landscaping ideas for around the signs; rocks, plants, etc.?????

A Find on the Web

May 21, 2010 2 comments

RJ found this on the internet.  It is from last summer.  They still have our 2006 Chardonnay.  It was so creamy.  We’ve been out of it since last Thanksgiving and are almost out of our 2007.  http://www.northwestwinequest.com/page/plum-hill-vineyards

Events, events and more events

May 20, 2010 Leave a comment

A new phase in our growing curve is the number of private events being booked at Plum Hill.  We’ve had a couple already, but have many more scheduled throughout the summer.  The highlight last week was a 50th birthday party for one of our great customers.  The theme was the 60’s/Greatfull Dead.  Good fun for sure.  I have a few pictures, but I am not the best photographer especially with crowds, so if any of you out there have some, please send them or post them on Facebook.  The outfits are not to be misses.  In other news, one of our baby frogs is no longer a baby.  In fact, he is great a large.  Um, I see a pattern here; everything at Plum Hill is large. :).  Ghost has been quite lost without RJ this week, but did manage to chase 2 deer out of the vineyard.  I love the deer, but not when they eat are young vines.

Lots of Sound Bites

May 11, 2010 Leave a comment

I have a bunch of little bits of news to share with you, so this blog post is going to have several sound bites.  Don’t expect any continuity.

For those of you waiting for different sizes of the wine, bling, bling shirts, we just received a huge order.  We also got some sweatshirts in.  They are plain (no logo), but have our embossed corks as the cord pull (see picture).

We had a successful Mother’s Day Luncheon.  It was great fun planning but I definitely learned some things like having a Mother’s Day Luncheon ON Mother’s Day, not the day before.  How silly is that.  Pictures below:

Ghost has lost 2 more pounds.  He is down to a svelte 112 pounds.

Business has been really good lately, especially on the weekends.  Last weekend, we were here until 7p.m. with customers on both Saturday and Sunday nights.  We don’t close if people are here enjoying themselves.  We have a number of private events scheduled this spring and summer.  If you know anybody that wants to work parttime or help out, let me know.  A job description is being developed, hopefully today.

I am developing a plan for a Father’s Day event.  Not sure what it is, but brats, peppers, and onions will be involved.  Save the date.  And ladies, for you, I am planning a quarterly wine and shopping Ladies’ Night including gift shop specials.

In Memory of Gilbert, Now Sushi

It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you all the Gilbert, the Beta has gone to a fish pond in the sky.  He struggled until the very end but could not defeat the overfeeding I must have given him (lesson for Ghost, here, I’m sure).  Gilbert was a great attraction at the winery, brought in many customers with his dancing and playing dead.  He was a great hider, too.  Some of you may remember the contentious “Name the Beta” contest.  It came down to two names, Gil-bert and Sushi.  How did we know, he would live (or die) with both names.  Please bare with me as I post a couple of his pictures in remembrance.  By the way, does anyone out there need some Beta food, water cleaner, rocks, or fake plants?

One more note of celebration.  We are 9 hits away from reaching 10,000 on our blog.  Help us get there today!!!!!
